OUR GUARDIAN HOME PROGRAM
* You must live in Northern CA. to be considered for the Guardian Program *
At Gateway Farm Dalmatians we believe that every dog deserves to have a loving, forever home. All of our dogs are part of our family and live in our home rather than kennels so that we know they are getting as much love and attention as possible. Because of this we have decided to offer a Guardian Home Program. A Guardian Home is a permanent home for one of our breeding males or females.
Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our top notch, "Pick of the Litter" puppies as a show dog or family pet. It gives us the opportunity to keep moving our breeding program forward. You would purchase your puppy as usual and raise him/her in your home. At age 2, they would be evaluated and if we feel they are the quality we would like to see carry on the Gateway tradition, the dog would be health tested at our expense. Provided all health tests are satisfactory, we would refund you $1000 at that time and retain ALL breeding rights for use of the dog in our breeding program.
In the case of a female, if we feel she is an exceptional producer and contributor to our breeding program, we may choose to breed her a second time and possibly a third time and you would receive another $1000 for each breeding! You are welcome to schedule a visit while your girl is with us and play with the puppies!
We may be willing to discuss other possible creative arrangements as well.
Once retired, he/she will be neutered/spayed at our expense and returned back to you permanently.
As a Guardian Home you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning a dog including annual exams, vaccines, food, etc. We would only pay for all breeding related costs including health testing.
Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:
We reserve the right to cancel our guardianship program at anytime if we deem necessary.

- Be willing to attend basic obedience classes.
- Be willing to socialize your puppy. This is very important!
- He/She must be an indoor pet and never left unattended outside.

She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned (~4-6 weeks). Think of it this way! You could plan a vacation during that time, get free dog boarding with us, and get $1000 to spend on your trip!
- If you are a guardian for a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off for 3-5 days for breeding or meet with us 2-3 times at an agreed upon location.
- Be able to communicate with us about scheduling testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related.
